On November 28th together with Studium Generale we hosted 'Groningen: a global city?' a varied and interactive evening of talks and discussions to address the topics of internationalization and inclusion.
We were delighted to bring together the perspectives of Prof. dr. Sabine Otten, professor of Intergroup Relations and Social Integration at the University of Groningen, trainees from the municipality Koen Brandt and Evite van Winkoop, who have been working with students from the Hanze on this topic, and municipal strategy advisor Jan-Kees Kleuven. Afterwards there was room for short discussions in small groups on the issues raised, providing also data for the research. Social integration of new residents was a key topic and it's clear that there's work to be done - so we are doubly motivated to keep doing what we are doing at City Central.
